NORLSAR are lucky enough to have an active committee. This can be a thankless task, which is very time consuming and requires a great deal of extra effort. A large proportion of our members have day jobs and family commitments. All of our members are from very different backgrounds. While some have extensive experience in Search and Rescue, some simply stumbled across us on the Internet. Our oldest member is in his 70's and our youngest members have recently completed degrees at the UEA.

Chair: Steve Fairbrass
Steve was one of our founder members and is also one of our trustees. He used to be the Catering and Domestic Manager for St Martin's Housing Trust in Norwich. Steve has a good background in the outdoors enjoying climbing, caving, walking, mountain biking and canoeing, which lead him to become a BCU Kayak Instructor. He is also qualified to train people in first aid up to the First Aid at Work Qualification.

Treasurer: Rachel Davey
Rachel heard we needed help filling the treasurers post and kindly agreed to help. Rachel is the first person to join us to help exclusively with running the administration of the team and in particular finance.

Secretary: Eleanor Russell
Eleanor has been a member of the team since 2003. She joined because she wanted to do some voluntary work and liked what NorLSAR did. She enjoys learning new things and then putting them into practice. She has three children, so does not have as much spare time as she would always want!!

Membership Secretary: Em Butcher
I joined Norlsar in 2005 as I wanted to meet new people and do something completely different to my day job. Although I am not a searcher, I help in incident control during callouts. You don't have to be a searcher to join our team. There can be a role for anyone who is willing to give up some of their spare time.

Training Officer : Paul Webber
I was a Retained Fire-fighter for 18 years in Kent and then East Sussex.
I moved to Norfolk in 2000 and was looking for a voluntary organisation where I could put some of my previously learnt skills to good use. 3 years ago, I came upon Norlsar on the Internet by chance and decided to attend a training session and 12 months later became a qualified search technician.

Assistant Training Officer: Keith Knight
Keith is a mechanic by trade and owns Highway Motors in North Walsham. He has a police background (20-plus years). In that time he gained two long service medals and a Queen's Award for her golden Jubilee. He has been involved in Search and Rescue since 1982. He is a dog Handler to Tammy. Keith has a Land Rover that has been used for night searches over large areas.

Equipment Officer/Canoe Team Lead: Stephen Postle
Stephen was on the original steering committee and has been a member since 1999. Now one of our Team Leaders, as well as being a keen canoeist and dog handler.

Web Master/Bike Leader: James Tibbetts
James joined the team in 2004 while a student at the UEA and was instrumental in forming the Bike Team. He has worked over the past year upgrading our web site and travels from Suffolk for training and callouts. James is a Team Leader and enjoys fixing land rovers in his spare time.

Press and PR: Deborah Steele
Deborah joined the team in 2006 and is a team Leader & Dog Handler. During 2007 it became apparent that the team needed a Press & PR person and the work began to increase membership and raise the profile of NorLSAR.  Deborah is the Norfolk Unit representative attending LSDogs meetings and events.
