SEPTEMBER NEWS
And as the children go back
to school it has been a quiet summer for the team with
only one summer call out. We now enter our Autumn
training programme and our fund raising efforts will
also increase as we approach the time of year when we
need to finance our insurance and review our equipment
and replace where needed.
We ended August on a real
high with the POLICE GALA DAY on the 31st August. Lady
Luck was on our side and I expect the Gala Day
organisers breathed a huge sigh of relief that the
forecasted heavy showers arrived late! The Norfolk
Show ground was very busy and the display by NorLSAR,
Civil Protection, The Military Defence Police and
Norfolk Constabulary down by the Lake side was very
popular. Standing room only.
This years theme was Doctor
Who and a big thank you to Keith and Steve F for the hit
of the show - K9 (secret weapon).
The show was based on 3
aliens (including our own Andy B and Tim T) having
stolen Dr Who's sonic screwdriver. After the usual, and
by now expected "key stone" cops chase around the lake,
K9 was deployed to assist the search (!) arrest,
recovery and return of the screw driver to the tardis.
While the effects may not have matched BBC standards the
crowd watching enjoyed it judging by the laughter and
shouting - and we certainly did.
Tim and Andy
in disguise.
This year we
have attended more public events than ever before and
planning has already started for our 10th Anniversary year
in 2009. We hope to mark our 10th Anniversary with our first
ever "party" and launch "Friends of NorLSAR" for those who
would like to work with us without being search technicians.
If you would
like to know more about the work we do please contact us
through this web page.
