GET FOUND PROJECT 2008

All 74,000 leaflets and teachers packs have now gone out to the schools. They are also available to down load and an additional  teaching resource pack is also available (see to the right).

Over the summer we will be awarding prizes to Shannon and Lilah our 2 winners of the ART COMPETITION (family tickets to a Norwich City home game at the start of next season and money to their school).

Here are their winning entries:

In May we launched a new service entitled GET FOUND for children aged 9 to 14 (KS2 and 3) providing them with easy to remember hints and tips on what to do if they get lost. This involved approximately 74000 Norfolk school children across over 370 schools. We believe it is becoming increasingly important that children are provided with this information at a time when they are encouraged by adults and the media to adopt healthy lifestyles.

We hope teachers will use the information sent to them to talk to children about enjoying the outdoors and being safe, and using the activities the children can learn what to do if they get lost. We believe no other service exists to provide the children of Norfolk with the information in such an easy to remember format.

The project began in May 2008 with the printing and dispatch to schools of the new leaflets (aged 9 -11 and 12-14) and Teachers Pack developed with the assistance of children from Taverham Hall School and Young Countrysiders Groups. Norfolk Constabulary Community Officers will be able to visit schools to talk about GET FOUND and other safety issues.

The Teachers Packs have been designed by a teacher and we hope teachers will find it easy to use and reduce the planning time usually needed to run a new session with children.
Although it would not be possible for NORLSAR representatives to attend every Norfolk school by the start of the summer term we aim for all of Norfolk's 74,000 key stage 2 and 3 children to have participated in the scheme.
