Flood teams respond to East Coast tidal surge

Twelve team members (11 Water First Responders and an Incident Manager) were on standby in Great Yarmouth on Friday night supporting Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service in case of flooding from a predicted Tidal Surge. Severe Flood Warning for mopst of the Great Yarmouth area had been in place since the morning, and the flood teams gathered at the Wroxham Water Base toi prepare equipment and discuss strategies in the afternoon – luckily the tide passed without major issue, and the team stood down in the small hours of Saturday.

Meanwhile, one team member was on duty at the British Red Cross HQ in Norwich assisting at the Norfolk Resilience Forum Voluntary & Faith Coordination Centre, and another was assiting at a Great Yarmouth Borough Council rest centre in Caister.
